Saudi delegates take part in the inauguration of ILC in Geneva

As headed by H.E Minister of Labor and Social Development Dr. Ali bin Nasser Al-Ghafis, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's delegation is taking part in the 106th Session of the International Labour Conference, which started on Saturday, 5 June till 16 in Geneva.
Under the emblem of 'Building a future with decent work', bring together tripartite delegates including government members, employers and workers.
The ILO 187-member states meet at Palais des Nations to support provision of decent work and income through applying labor-related standards, principles and basic rights, in addition to achieving social protection for workforce and enhancing social dialogue among the three productive parties.
The ministry said the Kingdom's participation comes within its keenness to exchange information, regional and international experiences, besides adopt best practices in the field of work and manpower as per its Vision 2030.
The Saudi high-ranking delegation seeks to lay out recommendations and proposals regarding the discussed agenda with the aim of supporting the ILO in shaping its future path that relies on three key issues (youth employment, 2030 agenda for sustainable development, social protection), added the MLSD.
At the inauguration, Guy Ryder, director-General of the International Labor Organization, gave his introductory statement and a brief on the Report of Director General titled 'Work in a changing climate: The Green Initiative’ aiming to boost the ILO’s standing as the global centre of excellence on current and future implications for the world of work, climate change and the transition to a greener economy.
The delegations' officers gave opening addresses after the election of the President of the International Labour Conference and of the Vice-Presidents of the Conference, besides nominations of the Officers of the tripartite groups.
At the ILA, the participating delegates address labour migration governance at the national, bilateral, regional and interregional levels, and fair recruitment, aiming to enhance capacity of the member states and tripartite parties to design and implement related policies, as well as support just migration and the work of ILO and its impact in the field.
According to the ILC agenda, the Saudi delegates is participating in the decent work for peace and resilience in a bid to adopt a recommendation after benefiting from the officers' input, shedding light on the Kingdom's experience in regulating the labor market and protecting the rights of national and foreign workforce.
At the three-pronged conference, the 187-state delegations continue to discuss the strategic objective of fundamental principles and rights at work, under the follow-up to the ILO Declaration on Social Justice for a Fair Globalization, 2008.
The strategic objective is in an attempt to understand the needs of member states in order to implement the four principles and monitor their developments in the field, as well as approve a priority decision that provides guidance on these principles and rights at work for2017-20.
The ministry highlighted the Kingdom's delegation will conduct a meeting with G20 labor and employment ministers to confirm the outcomes of their meetings that were held last month in Germany, aiming to enhance employment policies, increase women's participation in the workforce and provide quality jobs.
On the sidelines of the conference, the Saudi delegates will also participate in the Palestine Solidarity Forum to discuss the 2017 edition of 'The situation of workers of the occupied Arab territories'.
They will also take part in the Coordination Meeting of GCC Labor Ministers to agree on priorities and points of discussion before they represent them at the ILC.
