Institutions for girls care receive inmates aged less than 30

Khaled Abalkhail, spokesman for Ministry of Labor and Social Development (spokesman), said the institutions for the girls care provides shelter for girls accused or convicted of various crimes who are aged less than 30.

Abalkhail added these girls receive mental health services at the institute and are seen by psychiatrists and professional staff.

The spokesman said the ministry has sought since the establishment of institutions in various regions to rehabilitate the female inmates in time of entering the facility in order to return them to their family.

The institutions give therapy sessions to the girls who have possibility to be discharged from the facility, as well as their families during their visits, he said.

Abalkhail pointed out social workers and therapists intensify efforts for some cases of ex-convicted girls or those repeatedly entering the facility as inmates by rigorously contacting their families, which is done with the help of security bodies, courts, governorates and reform committees of familiar counseling centers in order to make a plan that allows girls to return home.
