MLSD reviews control and compliance mechanisms over recruitment offices and companies

The Ministry of Labor and Social Development (MLSD) recently conducted a workshop that combined supervisory directors of labor recruitment and supervisors of labor dispute committees on domestic labor from various regions of the Kingdom.

It aimed to implement the ministerial decision that establishes a department of control and compliance and monitor performance of recruitment offices and companies in all regions and provinces of the Kingdom, as well as designing control mechanisms and providing training programs to supervisors to carry out their tasks across the regions.

At the workshop, Adnan Al-Naeem, deputy minister for customer service and labor relations, clarified the ministry has created a special department that monitors and checks compliance of offices and companies, change a number of employees’ jobs into supervisors who oversee performance of licensed agencies and make sure they dispense services as per regulations and instructions with protecting rights of parties.

Al-Naeem pointed out the ministry developed its mechanisms and procedures to improve recruitment process which has reflected a positive impact on the market for the past months, which is in harmony with labor recruitment as per procedures, bilateral agreements and the International Labor Organization’s pacts.

The ministry, the private sector and employers who benefit from labor services are required to make great strides in terms of human rights and human trafficking cases, Al-Naeem added.

The deputy minister for customer service and labor relations stressed the ministry will not lose momentum to penalize the violators and monitor their daily records and performance based on the supervisors and inspectors’ reports, which may result in stopping their licenses.

He also said the ministry set up 38 dispute settlement committees on domestic labor, stressing the role of committees in resolving issues between employers and domestic workers and expediting ruling between the two sides.

The workshop came as part of the ministry’s training program for its employees, spreading awareness of procedures and instructions on field work with the aim of increasing supervision over these service providers and activating the role of committees in developing the domestic recruitment sector.
