The Ministry of Labor and Social Development announced on Wednesday its seven initiatives, which were previously launched earlier, is in a bid to improve and develop the labor market, empower Saudi nationals and raise their participation amid a suitable, decent and stable environment.

The ministry pointed out these initiatives include the enterprise growth program for boosting nationalization, the telework program, the freelance program, the part-time job program, the nationalization program for regions, the activity correction campaign and updated edition of Nitaqat program.

According to the ministry, the number of Saudi men and women who have joined the labor market in September and October of the current year is more than 64,000 Saudi nationals.

In the same year, a total of 1,948,873 Saudi men and women have entered the labor market at the end of October compared to 1,884,210 in September, including entry of 33,000 Saudi men and 31,000 into the job market.

Meanwhile, the enterprise growth program for boosting nationalization serves all establishments in the private sector which are actively subscribed under the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) as HRDF pays a share of the monthly insurance subscriptions on their behalf because they achieve growth rates in national employment.

Under the program, newly workers who got employed after July 31 will be supported for two years as HRDF pays 20 percent and 15 percent of the monthly wage for a female worker and a male worker, respectively.

According to the remote work program, it is one of the ministry’s initiatives that strive to close gabs between employers and job seekers, increase women’s participation in the workforce, employ persons with disabilities, expand scope of work for those who live in rural areas lacking job opportunities.

The ministry said the freelance program seeks to provide social protection for independent business owners either men or women in the Kingdom as HRDF supports freelance workers with paying a share of their GOSI subscriptions following obtaining their licenses, which are directly sent to the organization on a monthly basis.

The ministry mentioned that the nationalization program for regions helps prepare plans and implementation mechanisms to nationalize occupations in sectors and economic activities with focusing on capabilities of each region, as well as implementing the issued decisions and programs for nationalization.

The regional nationalization ensures empowerment of the youth to find job opportunities with enhancing cooperation between government and private entities to carry out target plans in nationalizing jobs, creating a decent and stable work environment and laying out enough incentives to encourage the business sector to nationalize available job opportunities, MLSD explained further.

The campaign to correct the activity of establishments aims to instill fair competition in the labor market by protecting law-abiding firms and penalizing uncompliant ones.

The ministry has introduced new changes in the Nitaqat program to generate job opportunities, fulfill the aspirations of Saudi nationals in the private sector and create a labor market and an investment environment that is both stable and safe.

The part-time job program aims to boost nationalization in the private-sector establishments and activate mechanism of this type of work where HRDF pays a percentage of the GOSI subscriptions on behalf of establishments due to their efforts in recruiting more Saudi workers on a part-time basis.
