700,000 families get over SR 1,000 cash allowance: Citizen Account

The Citizen Account Program revealed more than 700,000 families received over SR 1,000 as the first payment of its support, adding the second payment will be made for eligible ones within 15 days on January 10, 2018.

The program added those who complete their applications before December 17 will receive the second payment as the upcoming payments will be made on the 10th day of each month of the Gregorian calendar. However, If the set date encounters Fridays or Saturday, the payments will be released on Thursday or Sunday, respectively.

The program is in a bid to mitigate effects of economic reforms on the families and eligible individuals as it provides cash allowance for unsubsidized energy products as well as the added value tax of food and beverage. 

According to the program’s policies, it aims to achieve the main goals of the program through reducing effects of the economic reforms, raising effectiveness, regulating government subsidies that target the Saudi citizens and spreading awareness of consumption on energy products.

Meanwhile, the Citizen Account Program’s policies take into account the general directive principles aiming to provide protection for the families and eligible individuals amid implementing the economic reforms as the cash allowance is calculated based on household income, size of family and age of dependents. Additionally, the amounts of financial support for the eligible ones will be reviewed once every three months to handle any increase in energy and electricity prices.
