MLSD opens up new avenues for domestic labor recruitment from Uganda at cost of SR7,500

The Ministry of Labor and Social Development announced on Sunday customers can recruit domestic workers from the Republic of Uganda through the domestic labor program’s e-portal ‘Musaned’. The move comes as part of the ministry’s efforts to open up new avenues for labor-exporting countries in order to meet demands of domestic workers. Khaled Abalkhail, spokesman at MLSD, clarified the ministry defines the cost for recruiting a Ugandan domestic worker is SR7,500, adding the ministry and its Ugandan counterpart signed a bilateral agreement to recruit domestic workers from Uganda, regulate the relation between both parties, govern the contractual relationship between a workers and an employer and protect their rights as well. Abalkhail pointed out the agreement contains a number of stipulations and obligations along with a unified contract for domestic workers which is agreed upon by both parties, stressing its provisions ensure protection of rights between employers and domestic workers. A joint committee has been formed to implement, review and assess the agreement on a periodical basis, added Abalkhail. The spokesman urged customers to deal with the approved offices and companies found in the domestic labor program’s portal (www.musaned.com.sa) and contact the customer service No. (19911) if they have any inquiry.
