The Ministry of Labor and Social Development and its affiliated entities plan to launch a number of training and rehabilitation programs in a bid to prepare Saudi nationals in certain sectors in the Northern Borders, which comes as part of the ‘target nationalization’ program for the region.

Spokesman of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development Khaled Abalkhail said 12 activities will be targeted in the Northern Borders, adding the ministry and its affiliated entities will offer training and rehabilitation support for Saudi nationals in specific sectors along with offering e-training via the ‘Doroob’ platform that prepares the youth in various sectors and providing technical support and incentives to those who want to set up businesses.

Abalkhail pointed out they are keen to conduct career fairs that meet the needs of employers and job seekers through the national labor gateway (NLG), provide inspection support, monitor nationalization decisions in cooperation with the committees for implementing the ‘target nationalization’ program and offer the ‘Qurrah’ children hospitality program and the ‘Wusool’ transportation program for the working woman.

In addition to MLSD and its affiliates, the nationalization program for the region is implemented by the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Investment and Commerce, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation and the Bena’a Productive Families Center ‘Jana’.

The ‘Jana’ initiative supports the nationalization of truck business to generate job opportunities through making the business exclusive for Saudi nationals who want to pursue self-employment and want to be entrepreneurs.

Previously, HRH Governor of the Northern Borders Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz and H.E. Minister of Labor and Social Development Dr. Ali bin Nasser al-Ghafis signed a memorandum of understanding to launch the target nationalization program in the region, which took place at the governorate HQ in Arar.

The MoU aims to increase the contribution of the national cadres to the labor market, nationalize job opportunities in the private sector, provide decent work for its people and offer quality solutions that enhance productive and sustainable nationalization programs in the region.

The ministry and its affiliated entities under the agreement would join the forces to provide training, employment and incentive services that play a crucial role in regulating and developing the labor market.

The MoU is in a bid to enhance partnership and cooperation between the governorate of the Northern Borders and the MLSD, as well as combining efforts to regulate the job market and achieve the objectives of employment and nationalization in the region.
