MLSD conducts 3,600 inspection rounds in 7 days to ensure employers are in compliance with nationalization of car rental sector, as well as detecting 243 violations

The Ministry of Labor and Social Development (MLSD) conducted 3,600 rounds on car rental shops across various regions of the Kingdom to make sure employers comply with the decision aiming to nationalize the car rental sector. The nationalization of the car rental sector which has come into effect since March 18 in all regions of the Kingdom targets specific areas, namely accounting, supervision, sales, delivery and shipping. Khaled Abalkhail, spokesman for MLSD, said the inspection rounds which started in the first week of the enforcement have uncovered that 3,208 law-abiding establishments compared to 126 uncompliant ones. During the crackdown, the inspection campaigns detected 243 violations, including 121 nationalization violations and 122 violations related to other labor issues, Abalkhail pointed out. The spokesman urged customers to report labor violations or submit inquires through contacting the Customer Service no. (19911) or using the ‘Ma3an Lil Rasd’ app on smart phones. Meanwhile, the total nationalization of the car rental sector aims to generate job opportunities for Saudi men and women who are interested to join the car rental industry in the light of the sector’s ability to provide lucrative income and job stability for them. Additionally, the nationalization of the car rental sector seeks to limit security, social and economic issues and curb cover-up businesses. The sectoral enforcement also gives no exception for any establishment either it is mega, large, medium or small-sized.
