The Ministry of Labor and Social Development (MLSD) implemented 13,470 inspection rounds on furnished apartments and hotels in various regions of the Kingdom in order to make sure jobs are exclusive to Saudi nationals in the tourist accommodation sector, which is in cooperation with other entities. Spokesman of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development Khaled Abalkhail said the inspection rounds, which were conducted during the period from 26th Nov. 2017 to 10th March 2018, uncovered compliance of 11,416 establishments compared to 2,054 uncompliant ones. During the crackdown, the inspection campaigns detected 2,210 violations, including 1,970 nationalization violations and 240 violations related to other labor issues, Abalkhail pointed out. Meanwhile, the sectoral enforcement gives no exception for any establishment either mega, large, medium or small-sized. The spokesman said: ‘The ministry continues to launch inspection campaigns on a number of sectors including the tourist accommodation sector to ensure their adherence to the nationalization decision’. He stressed the ministry is keen to create job opportunities for Saudi men and women who wish to join the sector. The ministry’s move to nationalize vital sectors has contributed to achieving the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and increasing the participation of Saudi men and women in the workforce, Abalkhail said as well. Abalkhail urged customers to cooperate with the ministry and report labor violations through visiting the ‘Ma3an Lil Rasd’ website or contacting the customer service no. (19911), assuring all reports would be dealt with a prompt respond as the ministry seeks to improve, develop and regulate the labor sector.
