MLSD deposits SR 1.9b to support 930,000 social security beneficiaries, plus cost of living allowance for the month of Ramadan

The Ministry of Labor and Social Development (MLSD) deposited on Wednesday social security payments to male and female beneficiaries, as well as monetary support that allows them to pay for food and portion of electricity bills for the month of Ramadan. The ministry said the deposited payments are jointly sent at once to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts, which included cost-of-living monthly allowance in respond to the Royal Order. Dr. Ibrahim Al-Shafiei, deputy minister for social security at MLSD, said the cost-of-living allowance is paid to all the beneficiaries under the social security program, providing that they don’t receive pension from the Public Pension Agency or the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) that also give the cost-living allowance to avoid duplication as per the Royal Order. Al-Shafiei pointed out the social security payments are released in the beginning of every month according to the official calendar of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Umm Ulqura). He added the total payments deposited directly to the female and male beneficiaries’ bank accounts reached at SR1.922 billion, For the current month, a total of 930,966 male and female individuals received the ministry’s financial support with the aim of improving their living conditions, he added. In great details, the social security payments stood at SR1.323 billion as the monetary support that allows the beneficiaries to pay for food and portion of electricity bills was SR185 million and SR97 million, respectively, in addition to SR317 million paid for cost-of-living allowance.
