10 government entities explore training, rehabilitation and employment programs at 3rd steering committee meeting in bid to target sectors exclusive for Saudi nationals

H.E. Minister of Labor and Social Development Eng. Ahmed bin Suleiman al-Rajhi headed last Monday the third steering committee meeting for nationalization held at the MLSD’s HQ in Riyadh. The meeting was attended by H.E. Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Development Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Abuthnain and representatives of several government entities. Eng. al-Rajhi welcomed the committee’s members and stressed the importance of enhancing and developing the public-private partnership (PPP) with the aim of boosting the private sector and empowering Saudi men and women in the workforce in various regions of the Kingdom. The meeting discussed a number of programs and initiatives related to replacing expat workers with Saudi nationals in various sectors, in addition to the mechanisms used to implement the decision that target the nationalization of 12 economic activities. At the meeting, the members displayed a presentation on recent achievements offered by the MLSD and its affiliated entities as well as the future steps taken in favor of nationalization. Additionally, the attendants also explored partnership with government entities in the field of training, rehabilitation and inspection, stressing the importance of preparing young Saudis to join various sectors which are expected to be nationalized as per the timetable set by the ministry. The MLSD said women work was at the top of the meeting’s agenda along with the Regional Nationalization Program, in addition to discussions on conducting workshops for MLSD branches managers. Meanwhile, the joint committee consists of representatives from the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce and Investment, the General Organization for Social Insurance, the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, the Small & Medium Enterprises General Authority, the MLSD, the Human Resources Development Fund, the Social Development Bank, the Local Content and Private Sector Development Unit (Namaa) and Saudi Council of Chambers.
