Minister of labor and social development heads the delegation to G20 meetings of labour and employment ministers in Germany

H.E. Minister of Labor and Social Development Dr. Ali bin Nasser Al-Ghafis is heading the Saudi delegation to G20 Meetings of Labour and Employment Ministers, which will be held on 18-19 May in Bad Neuenahr, Germany.

The ministry’s participation comes within Saudi Vision 2030 aiming to enhance international relations and benefit from international experiences in order to generate decent job opportunities and reduce unemployment rates.

Under the title of ‘Toward A Compressive Future: A World of Work’, the G20 ministerial meetings would address a number of general topics, such as enhancing employment policies, increasing percentage of woman workforce, generating quality jobs and among others.

During the multiple sessions, the high-ranking officials will explore sustainable development in global supply chains in terms of wages and occupational safety and health (OSH). Additionally, they will address labour rights and principles.

Another session will highlight the future of work, in particular youth employment, social dialogue and social partnership.

The G20 Meetings of Labour and Employment Ministers is one of the important international occasions that discusses labor market challenges in the light of the current global economic trends. It allows the participants to exchange firsthand knowledge, lessons and experiences relating to employment policies.

On the sidelines of the G20 meetings, the labor and employment ministers of the member states come together to coordinate efforts and honor joint commitments towards labor issues.
